Astral

Astrals are etherial mythicals unable to form bodies and interact with the physical without a considerable effort, also known as spirits. Such nature renders them resilient to violent death but also severely limits their ability to influence the physical world. Their actual origin or lifecycle remains a mystery, even to Astrals themselves, but it is believed that some emerge from the collective fears, ideals, and hopes of mortals.

Lesser Astrals

The lesser kinds of Astrals are of variable intelligence and power that magic users or more powerful daimons introduce into suitable vessels. Some, especially those of demonic nature, are intelligent on their own and retain their identity while others, like those used to give sentience to animals, are not actually sentient and develop their consciousness upon their fusion with their bodies, normally enhancing already existing consciousness or remnants thereof. They usually transform into proper souls when they fuse, tying their lives to their new existence but also being able to be revived the same way mortals do.

Divine Astrals

Divine Astrals, the upper echelon of Astrals, are Shadim class daimons, often looking for mortal worship. While able to form avatars and perform some miracles such power is costly and thus not used without a really good reason. Their most powerful ability lies in their ability to forge pacts and bestow boons to their chosen champions. While those boons rely on the recipient's internal power and thus depending on the champion's training and spiritual fortitude they can awaken surprising amounts of dormant power. Unlike Lesser Astrals, they don't become genuine souls when they are given bodies or create avatars, thus they don't die when they are slain, however such defeats can take a huge toll on their beings. They can meet their ultimate downfall if they exert their power beyond their limits or starve due to the lack of worship or fear.
