Dark Elf Boroughs

Home to the Dark Elves, the cave ceiling in this part of the Three Boroughs reaches quite high, leaving ample space for majestic spires on some of their architecture. Along the main paths leading to its capital, Aralnon, adventurers will find that the sides of the roads leading to the city are littered with bioluminescent mushrooms, guiding travelers to the safety of its walls. However, it is far from the only settlement in the Dark Elf Boroughs: small settlements dot the area. To reach one, an adventurer would only need to mind the bioluminescent mushrooms: different colours point the way to different settlements. To reach Aralnon, they would have to follow the teal mushrooms, and purple mushrooms lead one to several small Dark Elf towns.   In Dark Elf society, a few noble families make the laws of the land. They do have a queen, but her political power ends at either approving or declining laws. If the nobles want to start a war, then she must either approve or decline the declaration for it too. Within the noble families, the position of political representative is hereditary. They choose their heirs on their own.   Every family has one area of expertise, and their word often weighs heavy on issues regarding their subject. These are as follows:
  • Vordridol family: Economics
  • Drievnor family: Militairy
  • Thabrozi family: Foreign Affairs
  • Ghindra family: Inland Affairs
  • Caemriran family: Education
  • Isidran family: Religious Affairs
  • Dhamrad family: Healthcare
  • Zevnuith family: Environment

The representatives of each of these families meet within a room, and debate on what to do about the issue at hand. Most of the families live nearby the palace, but the Isidran family lives closer to the Grand Temple of the Scorpion Queen.

History

It was formerly a monarchy, but the current queen felt like her subjects needed to be heard more.

Mythology & Lore

The Dark Elves were said to have come from an ancient Elven race, and they were turned into their current form because the Trogur pantheon caught them being curious about worshipping the three gods that would one day be the Galuesa pantheon. The now Dark Elves were banished to the Underground, where they now make their home.

Priesthood

The position of Royal Priestess is the highest one can attained and both it and the higher positions in the clergy are reserved for women. The High Priestesses answer to her. Beneath those are the Priestesses: they manage the daily matters of a temple. Under her are the Monks: almost exclusively a male position, and the highest they can attain in the clergy.
