I am naught but sand and water, but rarely is the life fluid seen on my surface. Yet, once I was bountiful with water, fruit, trees, and life of all kinds who worshiped me and who worshiped my father, the Sun, and my brother, the sky. Yet my father and my brother grew angry with me for I had distracted the inhabitants: all of them worshiping me and what I gave them, forgetting the required rituals and celebrations for my father and brother. Both grew jealous of me, furious with me, and wanted revenge on me and my followers. Planning devilish plans, my father, and brother proceeded to fill the air with such heat it scorched my skin turning it to naught but sand and ash and battered me with such great winds it flattened my mountains and toppled my trees. The ash since has gone, covered by the remaining sand in the millennium that had past. The inhabitants were cursed from my surface, having to flee to the deepest depths of my caverns. There they lived for millenniums, changing to blind and pale creatures who hated and cursed the names of my father and brother. There they fought their petty wars, chanted their petty chants and cursed their devil gods who banished them there. But such times did not come without reward. There they learned and mastered the art of the anvil, creating momentous weapons and tools that could rival that of the minor gods. Consumed with sorrow and filled with loneliness, my father and brother begged for forgiveness. There they restored their sight, granting those who promised my brother worship and praise speed faster than the wind and those who promised my father worship and praise the ability to breathe fire. Those who accepted this apology returned to the surface, living in villages and castles built to withstand the rages of my temperamental brother. There they worshiped only the Sun and the Sky, never even speaking my name. Those who renounced my father and brother live where generations before inhabited, praising only me and cursing my father and brother. There they remain hateful and vengeful monsters, cursing anything that the light touches.
