Anton (An-Tawn)

Anton is a recently conquered nation south of the Oppius Straight and east of the Fairy Woods. Its capital, and primary trade point is Al-Buhayrat.    Al-Buhayrat's primary exports are agrarian in nature with the nation using its fertile valleys to produce both food, spices and Findli plants. The city often serves as a ship nursery, making the flying ships that require findli plants for their sails. Because of this, the city is often known as "The City of Winds". Due to this, Anton has the strongest Aereal fleet, however, its land forces and navy are not nearly as prestigious.    Anton is ruled over by the Al-Harath line. Their violent but efficient system of succession has assured that the current king, Jaah Ibn Al-Harath has been a fierce but fair king. In this system, all children of the king as considered equally viable heirs to the throne, and are educated, trained, and given high positions of authority as if they were the only heir. When the king dies or is soon to die, a council is called to bring all of the children, as well as the high-level officials of the country, together to decide the next heir.    This is decided by the high officials, of which there are traditionally 20 to 30, to declare their support for an individual prince or princess. Once a definite leader in terms of support appears, the other houses will abandon their original selectee and side with the leading prince or princess until there is unanimous support. At that time, the Prince or Princess will ascend the throne and then give their first order: sentencing all of their siblings to death. This ensures that the new Jaah has to compete with no claimants to the throne.    In this system, the most important votes fall upon the Grand Vizier, who serves as second in command to the king, and the richest lords in the country.
