Betelos

One of the seven Disignos of the Melodies, Betelos is also called the Symphony of Hapolentelorn and reflects this specific member of the Melodies' love for arthropods. All fauna within Betelos have exoskeletons and all flora is specifically designed for their consumption. The local race of mahn are called Bettels and share the naturally protective exoskeletal system that all other fauna living in this Disigno enjoy.

Geography

Betelos is a hospitable and lush environment with abundant water and plant life. The terrain is generally flat with a few large hills where the rivers flow into lakes and estuaries originate. Heavy rainfall is extremely rare, but the nightly thick mists that pass over the land keep the lands of Betelos verdant and fertile. Most lakes are stagnant, which make for fantastic breeding grounds for the prey insects that populate the Disignos. There are two notable bodies of saline water in Betelos, the Sea of Glass and the Hebris Sea. Almost all bodies of water, large and small, are shallow enough for an adult mahn to wade through.

Fauna & Flora

Most of the countless varieties of greenery that coat the landscape of Betelos are fairly short in size, perhaps reaching no higher than the upper thigh of an adult mahn. However, no matter where you stand in this Disigno, at least one fruit tree will be within your line of sight. The local wildlife greatly enjoy the wide variety of seeds and fruits available. Most of the fauna is quite small, as is to be expected, and closely resembles some sort of common insect, usually a beetle. Under the water, crustaceans can be commonly found as well, sometimes reaching titanic sizes.
