The Calendar of Saphel

The Penthic Calendar was first created and popularized by scholars of the coalition of five antiqual human kingdoms. As the influence of this empire, called the Pentarchy, was great during this period, other lands and nations were eventually exposed to, and adopted, this calendar. The calendar used to account for slight error in the lengths of days until, bizarrely, they discovered it was no longer necessary. The best theory as to why is that Sa itself adopted this calendar, and ever so slightly shifted reality to align with its symmetries. Thus, this calendar can now be found across all cultures, even those not on Sableheim.
  1st Day of Tyber's Revel
It is based in the number '5' and it's powers, it is considered a holy number in several religions.
  Basic Divisions of Time:
Hours and Minutes behave similar to elsewhere in the multiverse.
On Saheim, a DAY is 25 HOURS.
There are 5 DAYS in a WEEK.
There are 5 WEEKS in a MONTH.
There are 5 MONTHS in a CYCLE (Originally called "Seasons", but farmers were too accustomed to the traditional 4 season system. The term "Cycle" is thus only rarely used).
There are 5 CYCLES in a YEAR.
Weeks in a month are numbered. Cycles begin at new year, after winter solstice.

  Days of the week are:

    • Mournsday
    • Tiefday
    • Kirsday
    • Ithday
    • Cilday

A "Work week" on Saheim ususally extends from Mournsday morning to early afternoon on Ithday. Cilday is traditionally a day of rest.

The months of a cycle are based loosely on the Ger Noarnic cycle of living, and are called:
    • Toil
    • Trial
    • Penance
    • Revel
    • Rest

  Cycles are named:

    • Rythic (Waking)
    • Tyber (Departing)
    • Noman (Wandering)
    • Atma (Returning/Soul)
    • Sa Remis (The World Sleeps)

The winter solstice occurs on the last day of Sa Remis, and is the end of the calendar year.
When the adventure begins, it is the year 943 of the Age of Stagnation, which began after the Scourging. This is considered to be the Fourth age.
A rather rudimentary depiction of a calendar.
