Dialects of Common

In the last age, the Spoken races of Saheim courted dozens of languages. Humans, in particular, developed a wide variety of regional tongues by which they spewed their nonsense. The Scourging, and the shadowed centuries that followed, saw many of these tongues fade, and then die out. Not until the re-emergence of Aertas and the unification of the disparate eastern nations into the Azon Empire did civilization truly re-solidify, and language reconcile into its current salient forms.   The tongue often referred to as "Common", or, as etymologists would name it, Idunith, developed disparately and independently into three separate languages, with a fourth revived from death by dubious means. In Sableheim's modern age, it is common for children to be raised learning two of these sub-languages, as well as one tongue of a more exotic nature.     Penthic: Most closely modeled after the Pentarchy's common dialects, incorporating a number of their titles and family names into common vernacular. The most widely occurring sub-language on Sableheim.
Found in: The Midlands, Oarn, and the Stormlands.
Old Gerric: Closest to the proto-dwarven Dunaic, the tongue of Old Gerric is descended from the language of commoners and tradesmen of Ger Noarn and her vassal states. The official language of the old titan, the patrician and poet's language, is lost forever.
Found in: Azon, parts of the Midlands, esp. Le'Ceil. Also the dialect of common most commonly spoken on other planes of existence.
Sharlayan Trade Tongue: The parlance of traders upon the southern seas, a conglomeration of languages from several different sources. Words from goblinoid tonuges, elven, Arcturian, and other dialects of common.
Found in: Deshala, the Arcturian Archipelago, and other nations of the Southern Peninsula.

Sibylich: A language revived from esoterica by the wickedly ambitious blood-clerics of Zhan Ankaram. Once spoken among the sibyls of Iluvysarrin, it was resurrected and restored to prominence in order to quell the incursions of drakes that descended upon the overgrown wilds now called Murcidia. Learning this language is extremely difficult for non-native speakers, and is said to confer a form of light precognition if achieved.
Found in: Hu Ayola, Murcidia, and all places where dragonfolk dwell.
