The Great Passing

The Great Passing is the transitory plane between the Material Plane and the Outer Planes. It is the realm of Jergal, the Lord of Bones, the god of death.
The few who have seen The Great Passing and come back to tell the tale describe it as a misty realm, an endless road littered with the fragments of long-dead kingdoms and their subjects. Those who arrive in The Great Passing feel a great urge to walk that road until they find the chance to prove their worth and enter the realm of their god.
Those who are unable to pass the realm of death, such as the faithless and those considered unworthy by their patron, are doomed to travel that road forever, until their spirits become shadowy husks of their former selves.
