The Marking

History

The Marking was created by the Arsaki in order to deal with the divisions among their society as to whether or not to serve the Shadow. Six Houses were created, two to fight the Shadow, two that were impartial, and two that served the Shadow.

Execution

During the marking ceremony, a member of each of the six houses proclaims the glories of their house and creates an arcane symbol on the ground. When the young Arsaki who is choosing a house steps onto one of these symbols, they are sealed for life. Someone who betrays their house is outcast from the Arsaki and never allowed to join a house again.
