Toothsalve

Every traveler has a pouch of toothsalve to keep their teeth from rotting. Of course the plant can be found everywhere so you only have to buy it in the cities where it is easier to pay someone to go out and harvest the thing then do so yourself.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Toothsalve are bushes appear as a dense collection of green leaves. Each leaf resembles the shape and size of a small bird's feather with a serrated edge. The stem of the leaf is thick almost a quarter the size of the leaf and produces a sweet sap.

Genetics and Reproduction

Toothsalve reproduce through spores found beneath their leaves. If left alone the spore will mature and burst to fly on the wind otherwise animals will eat the plant or people will use leaves and expel the spores after use. When these spores comes into contact with soil the another toothsalve bush will grow. Thanks to the varied mortal races spitting out the spores the bush has spread far and wide around the world.

Growth Rate & Stages

The life cycle consists of two specific stages, the toothsalve as we know it and the spore. While it will take two to three years for a toothsalve bush to fully mature if uninterrupted in a lush enviroment a toothsalve bush can last a century.

Ecology and Habitats

While the toothsalve is most common in moist shady woodland nooks thanks to the widespread use of the plant it can be found in low mountain elevations, to shady desert rock faces, or in open fields.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Toothsalve requires moisture and arable land though some strains have learned to live with less water for fewer leaves.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Toothsalve is often used as a brush to keep teeth healthy and clean. Stems of of toothsalve were used as a natural toothbrush due to its strong antibacterial sap and the ability to freshen their breath breath.
