The Five Faces of the Divine

The Five Faces of the Divine, or simply the Five, are the major deities of the Ammoran people. Each represents distinct aspects of El, the Creator, and each is held in balance by the others. Should one ever become too powerful, the harmony of the Five will be disrupted with potentially cataclysmic consequences for the Material Plane. Thus it is that each deity must be worshipped in proportion with the others, as each is an equal part of the Creator.

Mythology & Lore

In the beginning, there was only darkness. Then came El, the Great Creator, who gave form and shape to the worlds and the planes. When the Creator’s work was done, El dispersed among the stars, leaving behind five aspects of themself to rule and watch over their creations. These five pieces of godhood, each one a Face of the Divine, grew planes of their own in which to dwell and watched over the Material Plane and its denizens.   But for each of these Five, a shadow, also, was cast. And so it was that if ever one of the Five were to become more powerful than its brethren—too rich in mortal praise—the balance of the Creator’s design would be shattered, and the Shadowed Ones would be unleashed upon the Material Plane, to cast its peoples into darkness and despair as punishment for their hubris.
