Safe Havens Resting

I'm gonna skip my usual fluff here for now (maybe I'll add it later).

Safe Haven Resting Rules

Short Rests
  • A nice period of extended down time, at least 8 hours long.
  • Characters sleep or perform light activity: reading, talking, cooking, eating, standing watch (up to two hours), whatever else
  • Usually taken over night, with one or more players taking turns on watch in shifts.
  • Long Rests
  • A longer period of downtime of at least 24 hours spent in a "Safe Haven" location
  • Good time for players to pursue work, shop, gather information, or any other downtime activities they've got in mind.
  • A place is considered a "Safe Haven" if it is a location that adventurers would have a reasonable expectation that the environment or environmental factors will not be a detriment to their quality of life.
  • Spells and Shit

    Preemptive FAQ on some spells.
  • Catnap (3rd Level) - Nice much shorter Short Rest. Yeah, it works as normal to have a 10 minute Short Rest instead of 8 hours. Just don't do it in a dumb place.
  • Tiny Hut (3rd Level) - A relatively safe way to protect yourself during a Short Rest, but not quite safe enough to make it a Long Rest.
  • Private Sanctum (4th Level) - Nice for hiding, but doesn't actually stop any creatures or environmental hazards from affecting you. Nothing to see here, folks.
  • Magnificent Mansion (7th Level) - That's pretty safe. 24 hour Safe Haven to hang out in for a long rest. Possibly even getting spa treatment with some massages.
