Miri Brightwood was raised in the small village of Barrow by her mother and father, Sonya, a member of the towns guard, and Frederik, a farmer. From the minute Miri could walk, she was constantly trying to get her hands on her mother’s weapons, and as a child she eagerly joined the village boys as they played Soldiers and Dragons. Finally, once Sonya thought Miri was old enough, she started to teach her to use a bow, as not only would it fulfill Miri’s wish of learning to fight, but it would come in handy should Miri ever decided to travel, as she may need to hunt. This led to Miri having a very close relationship with her mother. Frederik was often distant, busy tending to the daily tasks of a farm. He was more interested in raising cattle then raising a daughter, and only really had time for Miri if she was helping with some chores. Miri has always been fiercely cheerful and optimistic. She believes that the good guys always win, and that evil is always vanquished. Having never left Barrow, she hasn’t yet seen the shades of grey that the world holds, and never knew any real tragedy, until the goblin attack on Barrow.
