Sanguine Vampires

Basic Information

Description:
Sanguine or Blood Vampires are the most common amongst the different breeds of vampires. Like their name, they feast primarily on blood to keep themselves alive. Their fangs resemble those of vampire bats in the sense that they have two prominent upper canines which are used to slice through skin to reach the blood underneath. Recognizable features of a sanguine vampire would be their dagger-shaped canines, pale ghostly complexions with striking red features such as their eyes, lips, and the inside of their mouths. Most vampires are incredibly pale, with white hair, although there can be some variation. Sanguine vampires have dagger-like teeth which were evolved to puncture skin with minimal effort. They also posses sharp nails which grow naturally with a point. Sanguine vampires also are incredibly attractive to humans, although they look slightly off. However, this is the way that they secure their pray by having them become infatuated with the vampire, and it is so strong that their victims ignore the inhuman aspects of the sanguine vampires. They rely on their seemingly humanlike appearance to blend in and their ability to lure and infatuate humans to attract prey. The majority of vampires have this effect of entrancement onto humans, and will be openly received into the houses of unsuspecting humans. However, although personality may vary, vampires are known to be very polite and if you do not let them into your house they will not enter. Various types of vampires, although uncommon, may also reside in dark places such as caves and abandoned houses and live in groups. These groups will have a familial hierarchy, the eldest being the one in charge. This is because as vampires grow older, they become more powerful, however they loose their humanoid form and become monstrous. These elder vampires rely on their underlings to provide them with human victims to feast on, so that they do not need to leave the comfort of their residence. However, these elder vampires are not incapable of hunting on their own, and should be avoided at all costs.
Stages of Growth and Development
The gestation period of a vampire would be around the length of six months. The pups are extraordinarily small, and are very fragile compared to a human newborn. For nearly two weeks after birth, they will have their eyes sealed shut, and be very hard of hearing. This requires the constant care of the parents because the baby cannot obtain blood on its own. Vampires' fangs begin growing in after a few months after birth, and will progressively grow throughout their lifetime. The full development of a Vampire's fangs is completed around the age of thirteen, and from there will continue to grow throughout the life of the vampire in spurts, which aligns with reports of increased aggression. A vampire ages similarly to a human, until what would be considered their prime, then after that point the vampire will no longer show physical signs of aging. Because of this, vampires cannot die of old age or complications of old age. As a vampire ages, it will slowly become more and more monstrous. This process is incredibly slow, and the transformation's speed relies on the amount of blood a vampire intakes. By the age of 1500, the vampire has completely turned into a monstrous form with bat-like structures, however still keeping humanoid aspects. It is extraordinarily rare for a vampire to reach this age, and coming across one most likely means certain death.
Living Conditions and Habitat
It is necessary for a vampire to be among other lifeforms, because they are a parasitic species. Vampires also enjoy dark settings, because their skin is incredibly fragile and very sensitive to the sun. Although sanguine vampires can live in human conditions, an ideal habitat would be a cave or abandoned house in a secluded neighborhood for them to reside in.
Blood Consumption
The steps for a vampire to obtain their blood begins by first finding their victim. Their victims are almost exclusively weak-minded or lonely, only because they are more easily manipulated and have a lower chance of turning the vampire away. After their sights are set, they will lure the victim away from their own grasp on danger, and into their clutches. Vampires have sensitive heat-sensing nerves on their faces to be able to detect the veins and arteries of their victims. Once they have been found, the vampire will sink its razor sharp teeth into them, then proceed to suck the blood, or lap it up with their tongue. The reason for this is because vampires have a protein in their saliva, Draculin, which is an anticoagulant that does not allow the blood to clot and continue flowing while the vampire is harvesting blood.
Sanguine vampires have a special digestive system which allows for the intake of such large amounts of blood. The microbes in the guts of vampires allow for the digestion and metabolization of the proteins in the blood, to provide energy. Because of the amount of protein, the kidneys of vampires are also slightly altered to be able to handle the protein intake that sanguine vampires need to accommodate. Vampires also need the blood of humans or other animals to retain their body's superhuman properties. Vampires quite literally suck the energy or life out of their prey, which will supply them with their own.
However, a diet of blood is very innutritious, so vampires will need a constant intake of it. Vampires will constantly seek out victims, or kidnap one and contain them until they die from blood loss or old age. Vampires are very possessive over their prey, and will barley allow other creatures, even other vampires, come in contact or use their prey for nourishment. However, if sanguine vampires share a colony, with an elder in place, they will bring victims to the elder for them to feast. These colonies are responsible for immense amounts of deaths because of the amount of concentrated vampires who need to be fed, and the elder, who needs to sustain such a large body with such a small amount of blood per human compared to it.
Although vampires are sensitive creatures, they have an immense tolerance to bloodborne diseases. Especially diseases under the category of endogenous retroviruses, or viruses that copy the DNA of the host, and put it into their genomes.
After finishing their meal, vampires will either keep their victims captive as a source of blood, or simply kill them if they believe there is no longer a use for them. Vampires need to remain inconspicuous among humans because through persuasion is how they get their prey.
Anatomy:
Sanguine vampires have striking red features on pale ghostly skin and hair. Their eyes almost glow, and the inside of their mouths are blood red. Vampires can see significantly better at night, or in dark places, rather than during the day in a bright setting. However, the eyes of a sanguine vampire are very sensitive to direct sunlight.
The reason because of their paleness is because of a very small amount, or absence of melanin. Because of this, the skin of vampires is very sensitive to sunlight, and will blister and burn very easily. Therefore, vampires are very commonly photophobic, and will adjust to a nocturnal schedule rather than risking being outside during the day.
Sanguine vampires also have large razor sharp canines, and a blood red mouth. Vampires also have a very long tongue, which is used to lap up blood. As mentioned earlier, sanguine vampires also have an anticoagulant in their saliva which is used to keep the blood from clotting when they feed.
As vampires age, they will morph into a bat-like monstrous form. This form has wings, but is too heavy to fly. Instead, it uses its claws to climb and crawl. This form is incredibly dangerous because of its size and incomprehensible bloodlust and strength. These elders will recruit younger vampires and form a kind of colony, which increases the danger immensely.
Despite all of these frightening aspects, vampires are still beautiful creatures, and the humans who come across them become fully and entirely entranced by them, and will allow these creatures to lure them into their imminent demise.

Additional Information

Social Structure:

Sanguine vampires who live in urban areas will conform to whatever social structure the human society that it is inhabiting at that time has.
In "wild" colonies, saguine vampires will form colonies having the eldest vampire as the leader. In these colonies, the eldest vampire, if they have achieved their true form, they will be presented with gifts and food by the younger vampires in the colony.
Taboos

Vampires believe it is very unattractive to be rude, and to bear your fangs is a sign of aggression. It is also very unattractive to be unpolite or ineloquent. Therefore, the majority of the vampires are very educated and polite. A major taboo is to be anything but a "pure-blood". Vampires are very protective of their heritage and their ancestors and being pure of any blood other than vampire. Any kind of hybrid are rejected and viewed as unequal.
Beauty Ideals

Long hair, porcelain-like skin, and deep red lips and blush are considered attractive for both genders in vampires. The more powerful a vampire is, the more attractive they are to other vampires. This is measured by the amount of victims one can secure.
Clothing

Another easy way to identify vampires is by the way they dress. Vampires dress eccentrically, with vintage dresses, cloaks, coats, boots, and so on. The majority believe common wear today is too barbaric.
Relationships Between Species

Vampires view other species as inferior, and are very proud of their own heritage. Their relationships, especially with humans, are mostly faked in order to gain their trust to be able to prey on them.
Vampires themselves, especially sanguine, are portrayed by humans as terrifying beasts that are unsophisticated and ferocious. Humans who do come in contact with then though, immediately change their views because of the entrancing abilities of Vampires.

Lifespan:
The extent of their age has not yet been recorded, however it is believed these creatures will live off of the life of others until the vampire is deliberately killed.

Elder (male): 14'10
Females: 5'10
