The party are selected as Fate's Chosen in the festival of fate, which grants them special privileges in the city for the duration of the festival. They are pulled into a mystery involving lavish, raucous parties, murders, arson and drugs.
They investigate the drugs origins, present the evidence to the Governor, stop the parties and gain The Fool card.
Additionally, they learn they are marked with numbered tattoos, gain marks from the Ice Prince, pass on a Hammer that eats knowledge, discover the head of the Lock family mafia has been dead for years, and that Oliver's creation as the head's only son was an experiment involving the lineage of a woman known only as The Witch.
Briar entangles himself in The Spider's web, and the party destroys the Lock family home as part of resolving an unknown experiment coming to a head.
