Underground Caravan

"If it's illegal, we can trade it!" -Granwul

Who are they?

The Underground Caravan is an international black market that specializes in the most illegal oddities around. They have connections and trade routes all throughout the world, most of which were established before their time. There's nothing they won't trade and nobody they won't sell to.

Merchandise

A list of what they don't mess with would be shorter than what they do. With their teeth sunk in around most of the known world, they can get their hands on just about anything. Most of the time, it's just because they won't say no to a product.
Anything from weapons of mass destruction to simple street drugs and all the way to cursed magical artifacts on their shopping lists. Due to their unique assortment of goods and services, just as unique people tend to deal with them.

Head Honchos

There is no established headquarters for the Underground Caravan and because of that, there is no established boss. Instead, they have a few powerful leaders set up in major trading hubs around the world, supported by lesser known advocates. Many of these leaders are unknown, but a few like the attention enough to put their necks out there.

Strategy

Acquisition

The Underground Caravan is known to buy, or find, all sorts of trinkets. Some of what they get their hands on comes from recurring merchants, similar to legal business deals. However, a lot of what the procure ends up with them due to dirtier means. Be it adventurers trying to get rid of a cursed relic, bandits distributing the loot from fresh corpses, or even high end nobility trying to dispose of baubles from their personal collections.

Transportation

Most influential characters in the organization don't directly handle merchandise, there tend to be more than enough people willing to do the grunt work. Although, for more important deliveries, one of them may either follow or send a trustworthy associate to watch the shipment.
They also typically hire individuals native to wherever the cargo is heading, in order to draw less attention to the shipments. Their transports are never publicly announced, for obvious reasons, and are almost always smuggled with ordinary goods as a mask.

Bartering

Almost every single item that this black market moves is a special order, potentially heading to someone of great importance. Usually, a note or courier will bring a message to the Underground Caravan from said individual, outlining what exactly they are asking for. Though, in extreme matters, even stalwart leaders of nations will arrive face to face planning to make a deal.
Now, that doesn't mean they won't also sell to the masses. On more than one occasion, they've been tasked with spreading large quantities of addicting substances to the streets of major cities. Political ventures are certainly not off the menu for them. Even then, as long as there is profit to be made, someone will almost always take the offer.
And profit comes in many forms to them. As simple as gold to complex as opening trade routes, a gain is a gain to them.
