Allomancy
The Allomantic Metals
Allomancy is the ingestion and "burning" of metals to access various abilities. Those who can access any of these abilities are called Allomancers. Each metal is individually paired with an ability. Allomancy, as with other practices of magic are not common. There is a widespread fear amongst the rural communities of those who are able to conjure, and bend the will of nature. Those who show their true powers are more often than nought met, either with prejudice or sinister curiosity.

Gaining Allomantic Abilities
Allomancy is hereditary and if anyone in a person's 5 previous generations could perform it, then there is a chance that person could. The ability lies dormant until the allomancer undergoes snapping. To snap one must undergo considerable trauma and is customary for nobles to beat or otherwise torture their children to try to get them to snap.
