Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Tari usually says she left her village because she wants to learn new things, and become stronger. But deep inside, she knows that the reason she isn’t coming back is that she’s scared. She knows she’s the only heir to the crown, and she feels responsible to the fate of the village.
For many years now, people have been leaving Awamoko, due to the difficulty of living on boats and maintaining them and the increase in cases of robberies due to weakening of the protection spells cast by her aging grandma.
Even Tari’s parents left the village- her mother grew up in the green fields of the “shire” and only moved to Awamoko for Tari’s father. After some time there, she got so fed up with the place that she posed an ultimatum- it’s either her or the village- and Trai’s father chose her. They moved back in with her family, leaving Tari with her grandmother Marama, less faithfull than ever in the future of Awamoko.
Tari is scared that if she goes back to the village and claims her throne, she’ll only see Awamoko’s ruin and end under her rule. And she knows the Ahsenbrooks (especially Kaipata) will be more than happy to take over if she fails- and that scares her even more than failing herself. she doesn't feel like she's ready to deal with any of the problems waiting back home- so she isn's going back- not before she finds some solutions.
The Merins are known to many in Tari’s village. Their more minor discoveries related to fishing are used on a daily basis by many residents. Tari hopes Isabela Merin will somehow provide her with a magic solution that would solve their problems and maybe even lift the curse that made her the only female to be born in the village in 2 generations. She secretly wishes that the thing they’re after on the job will be just that.
