Personal history

Tari was born in the village of Awamoko, which is comprised of many boats, sailing together in the northern parts of the great river.   Key people in Awamoko:
  • Marama- the leader (Rangatira) of the village and Tari
  • Rawinia- the village druid that steers the boats. Marama's sister
  • Dodi- Tari's best friend and cousin.
  • Eldon- head of gurad in Awamoko.
  • The Ashenbrooks- father Kino is from Awamoko, married to Petillia (from a land village) and daughter Kaipata. are interested in overthrowing Marama and ruling the village.
personal history (based on session 0): when Tari was 5 years old, she overheared a conversation held between her grandmother , and some divination mages. the mages told her that none of the children set to be born in the village are to be girls, and the grandmother seemed very upset about that information.   when Tari was 13, her parents left the village to live with her mother's family on land. Tari refused to leave her beloved home , and stayed under her grandmother's care.   when Tari was 15, she and her cousin (and close friend) Dodi had a wild night out, drinking and partying. after winning a drinking competition, Tari has promised to use all of her winning money to get drinks to the whole pub. the money was not nearly enough to cover it, so they ran away to a town on the shore. in the town, they saw a well with an ornate emblem that displayed a dragon. as they were staring at it, the police came for them. after a short chase, they were arrested and put in jail, from which they were freed in the following morning by Eldon, the head of guard in Awamoko.   a few years later, her grandmother had informed her of some troubling news: the Ashenbrook family is challenging her grandmother and hers claim to the throne. they brought their daughter Kaipata who is the biggest, scariest and dumbest halfling around to duel Tari. Tari is very reluctunt to fight, but agrees when her grandmother promises to let her leave to the academy if she wins. after a week of intense training, Tari wins the duel, humiliating the Ashenbrooks. Before Tari leaves to the academy, she is gifted a tiara by her grandmother. she leaves with 3 divination mages that are on friendly terms with her village, one of which, Abras, is a T.A in the academy. on the way to the academy they gift her her first bow and teach her how to use it.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Tari usually says she left her village because she wants to learn new things, and become stronger. But deep inside, she knows that the reason she isn’t coming back is that she’s scared. She knows she’s the only heir to the crown, and she feels responsible to the fate of the village.  For many years now, people have been leaving Awamoko, due to the difficulty of living on boats and maintaining them and the increase in cases of robberies due to weakening of the protection spells cast by her aging grandma. Even Tari’s parents left the village- her mother grew up in the green fields of the “shire” and only moved to Awamoko for Tari’s father. After some time there, she got so fed up with the place that she posed an ultimatum- it’s either her or the village- and Trai’s father chose her. They moved back in with her family, leaving Tari with her grandmother Marama, less faithfull than ever in the future of Awamoko. Tari is scared that if she goes back to the village and claims her throne, she’ll only see Awamoko’s ruin and end under her rule. And she knows the Ahsenbrooks (especially Kaipata) will be more than happy to take over if she fails- and that scares her even more than failing herself. she doesn't feel like she's ready to deal with any of the problems waiting back home- so she isn's going back- not before she finds some solutions.   The Merins are known to many in Tari’s village. Their more minor discoveries related to fishing are used on a daily basis by many residents. Tari hopes Isabela Merin will somehow provide her with a magic solution that would solve their problems and maybe even lift the curse that made her the only female to be born in the village in 2 generations. She secretly wishes that the thing they’re after on the job will be just that.
