Awamoko

A nomadic halfling village, in the northern parts of the river. The houses are all built on rafts and designed for sailing together, and connecting to each other using wooden plaques during stops. Awamoko goes back in time further back than any of its residents can remember, and its name means “river lizard” in their ancient, now mostly forgotten tounge. Nowdays, the residents speak common amongst themselves, and only their names preserve their ancient language. Awamoko’s rulling system and family name passage are matriarchal, with its current leader (the rangatira) being Marama Takitimu.
