Rodelis is a high-magic, magipunk world for a campaign (Scarlet Season) i am preparing for friends of mine. I don't quite know what I'm doing but I'm trying my best. Quick description of the world below, more meta stuff like inspiration at the bottom.

Rodelis knows a simple law: Life demands power, and Power creates life. Any place that bears life (and all of them do) within Rodelis is in turn governed by figures of authority; be they the chiefs of villages and the lords of cities, or the monarchs of forests, the queens of ponds; mortals, spirits, feys, fiends, beasts, anything and anyone has a claim to power.

The world, however, knows few gods who rarely if ever involve themselves in its affairs, and mortals and spirits are left to rule between themselves
