1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment
Apart of the International Threat Assessment Coalition, 1RCR makes up a bulk of the expedition's manpower, providing Light Armoured Vehicles, well trained and numerous Infantrymen with a variety of small arms capabilities. They are led by Lieutenant Colonel Darren Reid, the Battalion Commander and land component commanding officer of ITAC.

Training
Professionally trained, all members of 1RCR have been placed into this Infantry battalion after completing their Infantry course and basic military qualification to further build on their skills as soldiers. Many members of the Regiment have go on further training such as Recon specialists, snipers, pathfinders, para courses and so on. Many members are also combat veterans from Afghanistan.
Logistics
Recruitment
Canadian Forces members are recruited from the civilian population by volunteering and completing physical and mental testing prior to enlistment. Upon joining, they will complete BMQ before undergoing their trades course (RCR is an Infantry unit). Upon completing their infantry courses, members of the CAF will be placed into one of 3 Infantry regiments and their respective battalions.
