The Captain meets some our subjects for the first time

Hilda, a Human woman that makes a living by scavenging in caves, is having a well-earned drink after a day selling her finds in the Coins District.
Bruiser, a down-on-his-luck Orc, is hustling for work.
Sprocket, a crudely-made Clockwork, is nursing a drink despite not having a mouth.

  They overhear the following rumours:
 

• A strange man wearing a hooded cloak has been seen skulking through the alleys of Grievings. He always runs off when approached.
• Tyrus, an old soldier that lived in the alley behind the The Fallen Soldier Tavern, went missing; but before he vanished, the half-mad veteran claimed he saw the boy Trout snatched by an odd man wearing a hooded cloak.
• Everyone liked Father Gregory, even if he did try to get people to moderate their booze.

A smart and capable looking woman comes in wearing the uniform of the Brown Cloaks, Crossings' militia. She was investigating disappearances in the area. She identifies herself only as "Captain".

  Reluctantly, she allows these three misfits to involve themselves and agrees to meet them in the alley behind the tavern.
