The Executions of Purity
Within every half a year, there is a tradition that cleanses the sins, guilt, and sadness of any and all through public executions. The patrons use this time to watch and break away from the usual monotony , and to cleanse the hears and minds of all from their sins by cleansing sinners around them. At the same time, this also serves as a measure for the government as a way to deter people from committing crimes.
The Executions take place twice a year, the the fourty-sixth of Ambriel, and the first of Yatzicah. Three criminals are traditionally chosen for the ceremony, and the ceremony takes place on a 20x40 foot platform with a 5x5 marble platform under the execution high block, with 7 guards in the back of the platform, 3 higher ranking guards in the front to give the convicted criminals final rites before their deaths, and the regional executioner.
The ones set for the execution are walked personally through a crowd, which they are always brought from close to the center of town to the very center of town (or the closest they can do if the city structure stands in the way). After the criminals arrive to the platform, the prisoners are given the crime that they are guilty of committing, final rites of respect, and are allowed to speak their last peace. After that, they are sent one by one to the chopping block, where they lay their heads on the high block, and the soldiers in the back place burning herbs upon the criminals body, which would cause the criminals to burn, which before the criminal could move too much from the pain, the executor would swing their axe and cut the head from the back of the neck through. In burning the body, the person would be saved from their sins, as the body that tainted them was gone and only the soul would live on.
It is uncommon, however possible that one of the men could be pardoned by certain people of power, however only the highest people know of the format of the pardons and the language used in order to pardon, ensuring the possibility of making a counterfeit pardon near impossible.
