Magic in Eastern Keldun

As classified by the New Coldain Enclave, there are four sources of magic in the world.

Ether

Ether comes from the elements. It is versatile, able to draw on mana and necropotence to accomplish things outside of its realm, easily tainted by these two sources. Classic 'arcane' magic is its purview. Magic-users who specialize in drawing upon ether often call themselves wizards, magi (singular magus), or sorcerers.

Mana

Mana comes from the land; this is the magic of growing things and life. A mage who uses mana can command beasts, heal wounds, grow plants, move the earth, and change his form, among other things. Mana is most abundant but the most limited in its purview. Magic-users specializing in the use of mana call themselves druids or shamans.

Necropotence

Necropotence is the power of death; this magic is fueled by death and dying things and is nearly omnipresent. Necropotence can ruin, destroy, slay, corrupt, taint, summon and banish spirits, resurrect the dead, or animate them as undead. Necropotence is easiest to wield, but corrupts any place it is used in. Users of necropotence name themselves necromancers or deathspeakers.

Dracopotence

Dracopotence is the power of the Dragons. Dracopotence is granted to followers of the Dragons - the Dragonspeakers - and can do almost anything, subject to the will of the dragon in question. It cannot be tainted by nor can it call upon the other sources of magic. Dragonspeakers use dracopotence to accomplish miracles akin to what is normally classified as 'divine' magic. Generally, only Dragonspeakers and particularly devout Dragon-kissed can call upon dracopotence.
