Qin

Rockfolk

The Qin are a race of rockfolk chiseled from the mountains of their home on Jian. The rock there is malleable, magical, and replenishing, perfect for carving by dedicated hands. Instead of sexual reproduction, Qin who are "inspired" to create new children pick up their tools and chisel a heart stone and a mind stone.   Each Qin's body is unique by design, both in shape and layout. They pride themselves in their individuality of form, though every Qin has a free floating heart and mind stone centered into their body's chassis. Though the body can be damaged and replaced, the heart and mind are the soul of the Qin. Luckily, Qin are very tough once they've been tempered with life, and are difficult to even scratch without magical tools.    The color of a Qin depends on the time of the day and season they are tempered to life, ranging through the full spectrum of color, though they do trend towards more realistic, natural colors.   As Qin are made of stone and may have heads without eyes or mouths, they use the spinning geometric designs carved into their mind stones to emote. Deciphering the art of their expressions comes easily for other Qin, but many of the fleshier races in Rine find them difficult to crack. Coincidentally, Qin are often great gamblers. Some make up for this lack of universal expression by emoting excessively with their bodies and hands.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Qin are carved from living rock using magically imbued stonework tools.

Genetics and Reproduction

Qin are asexual and reproduce by carving heart and mind stones from the mountains of Juan. The stones are bathed in a font of magic to bring them to life.

Growth Rate & Stages

Qin are born fully grown in size, but their bodies are changed out with carved denotations to symbolize the stage of life they're at.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Qin subside off of the Earth and magic, requiring both for survival. Crushed stone is filtered into their heart stones for nourishment. Magic in Jian is abundant and rarely do Qin need to seek out physical sources of it, subsiding on what they absorb from the air.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Despite rarely having eyes or mouths carved into their features, Qin have the same senses as the fleshier races. They have a deeper understanding of rocks and earth.   They are sensitive to touch, though pain is significantly numbed to them.
