Knight of Malesuray

Knights of Malesuray - the protectors, guards, watchmen, the men and women who go to fight in wars for their country, gain glory and raise in the ranks going from a Basic Knight to a Royal Knight.

Career

Qualifications

To become an official Knight, you have to pass the Knight exam, which is a, mainly physically based, exam which is held twice a year in Malesurej. Each exam is a bit different but usually, they have similar things they test, for example - Melee combat, archery, horse riding, 1 on 1 combat, running, stamina, donning and doffing armour, using trebuchets, ballista, siege crossbows. They occasionally also do more game-like events like capture the flag or a game of castle siege.
Usually, around less than 15% pass the exam, although it can depend on the state of the kingdom, for example, in years when the ruler might suspect a war to happen, even up to 70% of candidates could pass.

Career Progression

The Knight system is split up into multiple ranks divided by title and colour associated with each.

Rank differences

Basic Knight

Basic Knights are Knights who have just finished the Knight Exam and have passed. They have no banner or colour attacked to them. It's rare for a knight to stay at this rank after completing even just one successful tactical mission. This rank is usually full of knights who are just set as guards, who have yet to be given a true mission to go on.

Advanced Knight

The Yellow-Bannered Knights. The actual first rank where the biggest portion of Knights stay. The Knights which are at this rank, complete low difficulty, non-combat missions. They don't gain much acknowledgement for their deeds from royals or higher ranking Knights.

Fine Knight

This is where true combatants of Knights begin to appear. The Green-Bannered Knights are capable Knights, who have proven themselves having gone and successfully completed multiple non-standard missions.

Noble Knight

Noble Knights are truly Noble and respect deserving individuals. The Crimson Bannered Knights are the first to be knighted by the King in person. Noble Knights carry achievements with them, may it be one famous mission or task they've completed that has been spoken about throughout the Kingdom, or over a hundred, separate, successfully completed missions they've done, slowly gaining renown among their allies. Noble Knights are the Knights who become Knight Party leaders, for basic, advanced, fine and even other noble knights. If they don't go along the route of becoming the leader of a Knight Group and choose to do tasks separately, by themselves, that is also fine, as they are skilled enough to do such things, although commonly it is endorsed to work in groups. Around the Noble Knight rank is also where many members of respectable knight families reside, families who've proven to have many successful and accomplished knights amongst them. Noble Knights are often the Knights to wear full plate mail armour.

Grand Knight

The deep violet-bannered Knights are above any normal human. These are exceptional and much-achieved individuals. It is said that one Grand Knight can take down at least 15 Advanced Knights, if they're not given a chance to plan. Grand Knights acquire this rank by becoming renown and having proven themselves to be victorious champions mission after mission. Grand Knights are true veterans or prodigies, who know the ins and outs of being a Knight. Most Grand Knights are known throughout the entire Kingdom and anyone from their family, hoping to become a knight are expected to show high results.

Royal Knight

The Royal Blue-bannered Knights are the pinnacles of greatness in Knight culture. Their deeds are written down in history books for future generations to read of them. Royal Knights can truly be called celebrities as, even more so than Grand Knights, anyone, from the richest royal to the poorest slum boy, know of them. Honestly speaking though, power-wise, there is not a big difference between Grand Knights and Royal Knights. The main difference is that Royal Knights are specifically chosen by the King, as their number one task is to protect the King.

Perception

Purpose

Knights are given tasks that can either be a single mission/job, like going out to hunt down a wild boar or criminal, or they can be given a job that they'd be doing for an extended time, like being set to guard a nobleman's mansion for 3 weeks.
Knights can be given all sorts of tasks. There are the tasks that get done annually, like collecting taxes, doing check-ups on personal businesses, etc. Then there are tasks that are given to Knights when something bad has happened and has been reported, for example a giant showing up, destroying villages in its tracks, or a criminal escaping a prison, wielding some kind of powerful artifact.
