Wajue Dessert
Upon first glance the Wajue desert seems like a hostile and barren landscape. Very little plant life grows, and as a result even fewer creatures spend time above the surface. Nevertheless, underneath this desolate wasteland lies one of the most captivating and industrious civilizations in Revilo.
The Sorcias have created a highly evolved society residing beneath the Wajue. Giant sand worms, called Livna, have been burrowing tunnels beneath the surface for millennia, making room for creatures to live and build. Within this intricate maze of corridors many species have found ways to make their homes. The major steam-powered city of Dalakbruel is the heart of Sorcia culture, and functions like a well-oiled machine. Large tunnels buzz with the activities of the teeming thousands of creatures dwelling in this dark labyrinth.
Outsiders exploring the tunnels for the first time will find it very easy to become turned around. Due to the structures and roads all developing around the naturally made trails from the Livna, there appears to be no rhyme or reason to any of it at first. The Sorcias say that the only way to truly know the tunnel systems is to be born there and everyone else just has to keep getting lost. In fact, there are over one hundred words in Sorcian that mean lost.
However, lost or found, anyone can tell the way a Livna has travelled by following the extreme smell of methane trailing behind them. This methane is a potent power source, and one of the largest exports of the Wajue. It fetches a high price in the other regions of Revilo, and methane farming is a leading trade underneath the Wajue. Along with methane, gold, copper, and gems are other natural resources found within the tunnels and traded with other regions. These shiny trinkets have lured many travelers into the largely unexplored tunnels hoping to strike it rich.
