Overarching plot: Birthright

After divining that the next magical pocket will appear near the black desert, Isadora will announce that she intends to commission the first ship capable of crossing the black desert without magical aid. As head of a large mercenary group, currently protecting a merchant caravan, she has the funds needed for such a venture. The locals will undoubtedly be thrilled at the opportunity for work and the old trading routes that will reopen with the ability to once again cross the black desert. Retrieving the artefact might be more difficult. She knows about a device called the apparatus of Kwalish, a wonder of artificer engineering.

One of the greatest wizards alive today, Isadora Cosmetica was just a child when she witnessed the fall of the wizard aristocracy. Determined to reclaim what by right should have been hers, she has dedicated her life to finding a way to bring magic back to the world and restore her family to it’s former glory. A wizard of the school of divination, Isadora was able to receive a vision of a strange artefact at the bottom of the black desert that reacts strangely to magic. Retrieving this artefact is not easy however. The black desert hasn’t been crossed since magic disappeared and no one has explored its depths.
