Rethium Bestiary

The Rethium Bestiary.
  Written by Vincent Brigne.
One of the most wide-spread books on the continent.
And one of the most valuable texts ever written.
The Rethium Bestiary is a large book that can be found in a single volume or even split into a series of volumes devoted to their own groups of beasts and animal species, all of them written, produced and sold originally by Vincent Brigne after the completion of the master volume of this great document.
The Rethium Bestiary was one of the first books to be written by Vincent Brigne after his graduation from the Prometheus Institute of Aswary, where he attended his studies for the majority of his early adulthood. It is thought that he attended the Prometheus Institute from his late teens and into his mid to late twenties before he graduated with a master's degree in archeology, cryptozoology and a bachelor's degree in zoology, biology and other studies, having dedicated his life to those fields in order to make a difference to the world by discovering previously unknown species and animals known to exist around the continent as well as across the world that had yet to have been discovered and documented by any known individuals.
The Rethium Bestiary is separated into six sections.
The first is the Mortal Races, those who had evolved to a humanoid state of life and existence. Such races as Humans, Dwarves, Kitsune, Elves and others were documented here by Brigne, and he made sure to follow every lead he could find to make sure that the different races were properly and precisely documented within the pages of his first and perhaps greatest literary work.
The second section is Fowl. These are the beasts of the air and every other similar to them, and of these species there are hundreds, if not thousands, living not only on the continent of Rethium but across the planet as well. From the small and humble Birb to the massive and destructive Drake dragon species, all of them and the others between are documented into the pages of this volume of the Bestiary. Even though Dragons are known to be reptiles, their main feature is usually their wings which allow for the power and coveted ability of flight, giving them reason to be designated as fowl rather than reptiles in the Bestiary, although it makes sense that many have contested this reasoning.
The third section is reptiles. In this section, the diverse groups of turtles, snakes, lizards, crocodiles can be found, and with each of those species, many diverse members can be found documented as well. From the Pharaoh's Staff snake to the Freshwater Logger and even as far as the tiny and humble Candle-Gnat, each and every reptile in existence across the planet is documented into these pages of the Bestiary.
The fourth belongs to mammals. Rodents, herbivores, carnivores, felines, canines, whales, pigs, foxes, bears, cattle and every species of animal possibly niched in between are documented into this fourth volume of the Rethium Bestiary written by the established Vincent Brigne. This volume of the Rethium Bestiary was one of the longest and most comprehensive sections to have been written by Brigne as well as several other biologists and zoologists around the world who helped Brigne by documenting their own unique species that they could find across their own parts of the world. This single section of the book took over eight months to complete alone, combined with the many months taken by the other sections of the Bestiary.
The fifth section is fish. The giant finned beasts that conquer and dominate the ocean heights, and the smaller swimming beasts that grow and live and inhabit the lower depths of the great blue expanse. Sharks, whales, fish, dolphins, jellyfish and even eels and other deep-dwelling finned creatures that could be documented across the world, of which there were known thousands that existed across the world. Again, this section of the Bestiary took several months to complete, and attributed to the lengthy completion process of the volumes.
The sixth section is amphibians. Frogs, newts, toads and many others. This section of the Bestiary appears to be slightly smaller than the rest of the sections of the Bestiary, and it appears that not many entries were placed into this section simply due to this fact. Although there are hundreds of species of this classification of animals, it was known only to take a few short months for well-known scientists and other members of research to document their findings and to submit them to Brigne, who in turn added them into the volumes and published them for all the world to see.
It is thought that there are well over fifty million copies or more of the Rethium Bestiary being sold and owned over the continent by modern day, with a vast majority of them being owned by scientific or scholarly institutions and schools of varying grades across the continent. They can also be found in archives, libraries and other buildings, while the remaining majority are owned and kept in homes for the use of families. It is said to be one of the books with the largest number of copies in the world, second only to The Bible, which has sold several billion copies in comparison.
