Aror

The city of Aror has been around for hundreds of years, passing on from one padishah to the next. It has survived many wars and cataclysms, always being built higher than before. To date, the city has been razed to the ground eleven separate times. It sits on a large plateau simply known as 'the Rock', which rises from the sands, protecting it from being buried by rolling dunes and wind. Aror is also home to the Neela oasis which feeds the rich royal gardens of the Raaja district and to the outlying city around. The outlying districts are ordered by classes of different ranking nobility and their servants. Access to each of these districts is strictly controlled to outsiders. Sneaking around in the wrong place could very well land someone in the legendary underdungeons of Aror.

Government

Aror has been a theocratic monarchy since its rise to power. The current family in power has retained their position for the last four padishahs. The nobility of Aror are currently gearing up to replace the dynasty as the current padishah is without a male heir. Much of the members of the court have been preoccupied with making political moves to inch closer towards the throne when the time is right to seize it.

Industry & Trade

Aror is known for its pioneering dew farms and collectors, which has not only made them ludicrously wealthy in trade, but a prime target of many large historical raids. Aror protects its water resources fiercely and is partially in control of the economic price of water by either withholding or flooding the market with supply when it benefits the shah's family.

Natural Resources

Aror is centered around the Neela oasis which is fed from a deep artesian aquifer. This provides Aror with an almost limitless supply of water for the famous gardens and surrounding settlements. Aror's water cisterns are situated directly under the padishah's palace and are in fact more guarded than the padishah himself. This is because over the centuries, the cistern has been breached roughly 9 times by invaders wanting to wage war with the Aror empire and take their plentiful water resource.
