Selvisprie Settlement in Requiem | World Anvil

Selvisprie

Selvisprie sits prodly atop Ra-sola, seen as a prismatic beacon from far over the Cloudwreath Plateau.   The mesa of Ra-sola is chockful of minerals and ore. Geologically speaking, Ra-sola would be considered an outlier, and a very special one at that. The crystal elves of Selvisprie see Ra-sola as a holy place, where Lady Æduræ created the first of their kind. Therefore, none of the natural resources of the mesa are to be touched, leaving a plethora of raw material. Specifically: iron, gold, lead, gems of all kinds. Naturally, this has made the capital city a prime target of illicit resource-gathering, whether through armies of organized bandit raids. To counteract these attacks, a special militia is tasked and posted throughout the steep rise. This militia, called the [Ra-sola Köza], was established over 1500 years ago. Duties range from city gate guarding to border patrol to incident response. They aren’t necessarily the town guard, and undergo specific training to protect Selvisprie’s bountiful resources. There are currently around 200 elves making up the Köza.

Construction

Due to the fact that using any of the resources directly beneath them was strictly forbidden, material for building the city itself was outsourced to the mineral deposits throughout the plateau and imported slowly with great toil. Foolish as it may seem, this is just one of many ways that the crystal elves of Selvisprie showed their devotion to their goddess. Even being a woman of many rituals and traditions in her past, Æduræ did not necessarily approve of this inefficient and inhumane gathering of material, but did not stop it. In fact, firsthand accounts state she was among the laymen transporting and laying stone. Eventually a city of unending color rose atop the Ra-sola, and the rest is history.
