Internal Eternity Item in Requiem | World Anvil

Internal Eternity

"Internal Eternity" was a painting created by the artist Asur Jisse. It is commonly regarded as the most important piece of art in the world due to it being the only surviving depiction of Aya, Mistress Arcane, who died only a few months after the painting's creation. The story of how Asur found himself recreating the Goddess of Magic on canvas is disputed. The most accepted telling is that Jisse was her lover, and the masterful painting was the only gift he could bear giving her. Everything else paled in comparison, and he scoffed at the idea of anything less for the goddess. While romantic, the simple truth is that she divined that in the coming weeks she would sacrifice herself, and she wanted a portrait done of her preferred likeness to succeed her. The two had no connection outside of the painting, but the event was perspective changing for Asur, as meeting divinity often is.
