Modi and Magni

"After the death of their mother and father, Modi and Magni have taken up their mantle of responsibility with great pride. They will not fail their duty to protect Midgard." -excerpt from Tales of the Gods Vol.2

The Thunderers

Modi and Magni are the twin gods of Strength, War, Sky, and Weather. They are the sons of Thor, the God of Thunder, and Sif, Goddess of Harvest and War. After their father fell during the Great Cataclysm, they took up his mantle as the protector of Midgard, as well as his mighty hammer, Mjollnir. Together they embody everything their father stood for, but in many ways they succeed him. One son inherited their father's ferocity, the other inherited their mother's calm demeanor, and both inherited their father's overwhelming strength. Thor was known to be extremely hot tempered and quick to violent action, and Magni inherited this trait. Modi inherited their mother's clear and strategic mind, as well as her firm hand, allowing him to keep his brother's fits of rage in check. By that same token, Magni's reckless demeanor often helps to pull Modi out of his own head.

Despite being some of the youngest gods, Modi and Magni are regarded as the most physically strong among their number, and this has caused more than a handful of friendly competitions between the brothers to find out which of the two of them is truly stronger. Always their contests end in a draw, but each time they engage in competition, it can be felt through all the realms, as a slight quivering of the earth or a sudden shift in the wind.

In his avatar and religious artworks, Modi is portrayed as a short, but well built man with tanned skin, short, fiery orange hair, and a short braided beard. He is never depicted wearing a shirt, but he wears a wolf hide as a hood and cloak. His torso and arms are covered in runic tattoos. A large metal belt sits around his waist, and he wields two battleaxes.

On the opposite end, Magni's avatar and religious artworks, portray him as a huge man with deeply tanned skin, long golden hair, and a long, intricately braided beard. Like his brother, he is never depicted wearing a shirt, and his torso is covered in runic tattoos. He wears a pair of large iron gauntlets, and he wields Mjollnir, their father's legendary hammer.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Modi and Magni are represented by a crossed hammer and axes. The hammer is a representation of Mjollnir, and it represents Magni. The axes representations of the Stormbringers, and they represent Modi. Most worshipers of the Twins are warriors, including the priests, and although there are talismans that bare Modi and Magni's symbol, it is far more common for weapons themselves to represent the devotion of a warrior to the Twins.

Tenets of Faith

Strength of Body and Mind

Though these two forces may constantly be at odds within us, strength of arm and strength of mind must be in balance if victory is to be achieved. Those who fight with nothing but overwhelming strength can always be overcome by a keen mind and a strong hand working together.

Find Truth in Battle

Battle brings out the inner truths of all beings, the only way to truly understand ones self is through combat. When you fight, always seek to learn something with each victory or defeat, there is always knowledge to be gained on the battlefield.

Fight to the End

Never turn your back on a foe, whatever happens, you should fight to the bitter end, for there is no honor in retreat. If you should fall, fall with honor.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Modi and Magni wish to restore the connection between the realms so that they may once again aid the people of Midgard, as their father once did.
