Hothr

"His blindness and unparalleled skill with the bow was once abused to bring forth the end. Now he loyally stands at his brother's side, vowing to never make that mistake again." -an excerpt from Tales of the Gods, Vol 3

The Blind Archer

Hothr is the Blind God of Redemption, Justice, Nature, and Skill, and he is the brother of Baldur, and son of Odhinn. Hothr stands watch vigilantly over Ithavoll, using his greatbow to defend the realm against anything that would breach its sanctity. Known once as the Betrayer, Hothr has since paid for his crime of fratricide, when he was manipulated by the trickster god Loki into murdering Baldur. After the Great Cataclysm, Baldur and Hothr were released from Helheim, able to return and rebuild their home together. Hothr now stands as the pinnacle of unity and solidarity among the Remnants, as he works tirelessly to redeem himself for his past failure. In addition to being a patron for those who practice archery, Hothr is also often invoked by those seeking redemption for past misdeeds.

In his avatar and religious artworks, Hothr is portrayed as a tall human man with long, brown hair, and a short beard. His eyes are either shown as cloudy and white with blindness, or covered by a green cloth. He is often depicted wearing a green fur-lined cloak over leather armor, and he carries a heavy greatbow and a quiver of arrows.

Nature, Unity, and Solidarity

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Hothr is represented by an arrow head wreathed in mistletoe. Whether they be seekers of redemption, or practitioners of the bow, followers of Hothr wear talismans bearing his symbol. it is ancient tradition among followers of Hothr that the first arrow loosed in a battle be carved from a mistletoe branch, as to ask that he watch over those about to fight.

Tenets of Faith

Seek Redemption

For those who have done wrong, strive tirelessly toward redemption. If you wish to redeem yourself for misdeeds of the past, it is not something that can be fixed in a day. True redemption may take a lifetime to attain, but you cannot let that dissuade you. Along the way you will learn much about yourself, and these lessons will guide you on the path.

Talents Shared

Take pride in your talents. Lend your skills to those in need of them, but never let yourself be used. You must stand for your ideals, and dismiss those who would use you for their own gain. Your trust should be earned, and for those that have not earned it, keep a keen ear and a sharp eye. Betrayal will not always appear as a knife in the back.

Truth in Nature

Truth can always be found in Nature, it will never try to deceive you. Seek respite in Nature. Search for answers in the sound of a stream, in the rustling of leaves, or in the call of birds, and you will find what you seek.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Hothr seeks only to aid his brother Baldur in restoring the realms and the World Tree, as penance for allowing himself to be the cause of the Great Cataclysm.
