Freya

"Each life is important. Every soul has the potential to do something wonderful, even the gods do not have the power take that away." -excerpt from Wisdom of the Allmother

Lady of the Seithr

Freya is a goddess of Blessings, Love, Fertility, and the Arcane. As one of the gods that originally resided on the realm of Vanaheim, Freya shared her people’s penchant for the magical arts of divination. It was Freya who introduced the gods to the Seithr, an incredibly rare and ancient form of magic that allowed practitioners to know and change the future.

Like the cycles of the moon, Freya has many and changing moods and natures. Her faithful, coming from many walks of life, view her in countless different ways, and she reflects this. Sometimes she is enthusiastic, vivacious, joyous, and majestic, given to action. At other times, she is subdued, motherly, and almost poetic or tranquil and embracing. Finally, she could be aggressive and fierce, but cold, and with little mercy for her enemies. These shifting personalities make her versatile. Nevertheless, she was viewed as a calm power. Freya is caring and accepting of most beings, and forgiving of most of her followers' faults. She is quietly mystical and, has a serene and peaceful nature making her slow to anger; she will not fight if she can help it, but nor will she hold back if she must. She is fiercely protective when confronted by evil. She is more generous than many of her fellow gods, freely bestowing gifts and blessings on mortals. She also makes few demands of her followers.

In her avatar and her religious artworks, Freya is portrayed as an umber skinned Aasimar woman with dark reddish brown hair, intricately braided down her back. She is often shown wearing a flowing dress and cloak made of white and deep blue fabrics. Around her neck, she wears a large gold necklace, studded with huge chunks of amber, and she is always depicted as being accompanied by two lynx.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Freya is represented by a cat with bright, amber eyes. A talismans of Freya is always a figure of a cat, depending on the status of the person, the talismans are often made of anything from carved birch wood, to pure cast silver, studded with amber stones. Temples of Freya are often populated by cats, and the priests care for the cats just as well as any religious artifact, for they are regarded as Her messengers.

Tenets of Faith

Magic is Chaos

Magic in all its forms is chaos, it can never be fully understood, only channeled. Those who seek to control magic and bend it to their whims, will always fail. If one wishes to truly mater magic, you must embrace the chaos and allow it to flow through you unimpeded, using only your intent to guide it on the desired course.

Love brings Strength

Love for others can make you stronger, but it can easily be misplaced. Be mindful of those you share yourself with.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Freya wishes to restore the leylines that weave through all the realms, so that magic will return to a more stable state.
