Woolen Slime

The Woolen Slime is a curious species. Unlike other slimes, it has a rough woolen coat, which can cause the slime to reach dangerously high levels of heat, especially in prolonged sunlight (slimes, upon reaching sufficient temperature, have been known to explode, some rather violently). Woolen slimes use their wool coats to allow them to "see" better. Like other slimes, they interpret the world through vibrations in the ground, and their sense of touch. It is presumed that the wool lets them feel more vibrations and have a more refined sense of touch, similar to the hair of humans. Like all other slimes, woolen slimes move about in an essentially random matter. They know better than to go off a cliff, but that's their only limitation in movement. Sometimes, they move in two entirely separate directions at once!

Basic Information

Anatomy

Like any other slime, they have no limbs and no interior systems (other than digestive). Unlike other slimes, however, woolen slimes are covered in a thick coat of wool. The coloration of the wool can vary from snow white to a dark, almost black, grey.

Biological Traits

Varies drastically

Genetics and Reproduction

When slimes are stretched too thin, they divide, usually into two (but sometimes three) autonomous entities. Also, when slimes are cut into, pierced, slashed, or the gel layer is ruptured in any way, the slime expels its internals to the point where it is small enough to cover the rupture, and then continues on with its day. The expelled part of the slime can also form a new slime, but most of the time it simply results in an explosion due to the lack of protective gel layer.

Growth Rate & Stages

Slimes grow constantly, possibly forever; some have reached sizes larger than a house. However, due to the reproductive method, they shrink occasionally as well.

Ecology and Habitats

The best place for a woolen slime to live would be a mostly flat, cool plain, with lots of grass and other small plant life.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Like most slimes, woolen slimes are primarily herbivorous. They roam the land, consuming almost any plant they roll over. They then convert the plant matter into energy and mass, and gradually grow larger, allowing for more consumption of food, and the cycle continues.

Additional Information

Domestication

Some are domesticated as easy to keep pets, or to be used as a source of wool. Shepherds often use the slimes natural reproductive measures to make more slimes of the same wool color, and, when possible, remove slimes of an undesired wool color or of too large a size.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Used primarily as a source of wool, although gel can be obtained from them as well.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Typically found on the sprawling plains of the Dande Peninusla, or the highlands in the northeast of Regia.

Average Intelligence

virtually none

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Like all other slimes, the woolen slime uses its slimy body to move about, while also receiving information about the world around it via the same method. The wool coating this species allows it to have a greater sense of touch than other variants, at the cost of the slime being constantly at a higher, more volatile temperature.
