Magic System
Magic is present across Regia, and all of its people. The resource of magic, known as mana is technically infinite. While there is a limit on how much one person can use at any one time, it does regenerate over time, reaching a maximum amount that is different for every person. The rate at which mana regenerates is directly related to the health of the person. If one is starving, dehydrated, bleeding out, et cetera, magic will take a much longer time to recharge. The total amount of mana someone has is regarded as the "battery". Every person has a minimum amount of mana that cannot normally be used. This minimum can be crossed, but only at great cost to the user and possible permeant injury, and maybe even death.
Most people in Regia (as of 522) are largely unaware of the concept of magic, and those that are certainly aren't experts. Even those who would otherwise be extremely adept at magic likely don't know a fraction of their own power. Interestingly, the level of mana (which then effects the ability of the mage) is entirely separate from overall strength, intelligence, or other non-personality trait. For example, one could study the exacts of magic for years, decades even, and still be unable to properly perform simple spells, but another could improvise an extremely powerful spell on a whim.
