Giant

As described by the name, a "giant" humanoid. Typically sporting grayer, pale skin, and a larger, taller build, giants are one of the three main inhabitants of Regia. They tend to live largely in the north and northeastern parts of the continent, but occasionally venture southward into the Dande Plains and Gallow Glades. In their native environments, giants are more nomadic, tribal peoples, typically sticking to individual clans or tribes, and, while they are not against intertribal interaction, it is not common practice for one to go out looking for other tribes. When two do come across one another, they will often trade resources, and sometimes people. However, in the floodplains and southern regions, giants become more stationary, settling down and creating villages, or assimilating into Lumine villages, resulting in the affectionately-named "Half-Giants" or "qui-ha-ba-lu-ma-i" (lit. "Slightly taller Lumine").   Highland Giants live amongst the mountains of the northeast, and the Grand Duke of the Mountains allegedly was one. Today, these people have a strong sense of self, and move with the seasons (North, inward, and upward for the dry season, south, outward, and downhill for the wet). Some tribes have domestic [bovine wip] and Gallak, although such animals can be burdensome in the hilly terrain. To the east lie the Umbral, or Plains Giants, sporting a more reddish-brown skin tone, as well as a more agile build. These people have a sense of community unparalleled by any other peoples, and tribes often work together to accomplish bigger feats. Interestingly enough, however, is the fact that some tribes have fought before, and some frequently do, before inevitably reaching a stalemate, after which the two tribes hunt and feast together, before going their separate ways. Giants, as a species, are, undeniably,  the most physically capable sentient species on Regia. A full grown adult can reach up to eight feet six inches tall, lift almost one and a half times their weight, and run up to twelve miles an hour, for up to an hour. This does have its disadvantages, though. Their life style all but requires them to remain in peak condition, so giants require a large amount of food to sate their appetite, and as such eat up to 4,000 calories a day. The best way for them to obtain this food is by hunting, thus encouraging a nomadic lifestyle. While some tribes have settled and taken up agricultural methods, these tribes require almost all of their people to be farming, fishing, or foraging, and hunts occur regularly when food is more scarce.   Due to their unique ways of life, their amount of technology is reduced to only necessities. That is not to say that they don't have any amount of unique innovations. One such invention is borekapeshk leather. While borekapeshk carapace is already quite leathery, it can be strengthened, and relatively easily, if one knows what to do. All you need is a carapace, a fire, some water, and some salt. Simply wet the carapace, salt it, and then place it over the fire to to dry. The result is a very tough (but not coarse) leather. This leather is then used for armor, clothing, footwear, carry bags, waterskins, anything really. Some groups have further refined the process, introducing a powder made of iron-rich dirt and slime gel, as a replacement for the water and salt. Instead of the carapace simply being dried, it ignites in a dry flame, before the flame eventually putting itself out. The result is scorched leather, an even tougher material, used for more or less the same purposes.
