Bread Bank

Many different banks work beneath the Bread Bank, while their names are often grander everyone refers to them as the 'Bread Banks' for they are the stores of food.

The Bread Bank is another institution founded during the Pact, mages from all groups collected to bring together an agreement on the cultivation, preservation and rationing of food. The Bread Bank uses magic and mundane tools to preserve the foods collected on raids and ensure that plenty is kept in storage in case there is a Wasting Time.

They also ensure that these stores are protected, with most of their locations hidden and the methods of distribution a tightly guarded secret.

On Reef, due to the fantastical nature of the riches collected, taxation is facilitated by this bank, as food is always the most important resource. One example is that those who collect valuables may be expected to pay more coin for their food, and traders may be financed to use this money to collect food. Others have arrangements that fit their expertise, the Libraries, for instance, offer their knowledge to the bank and often lend their magical skills to the bank to help construct and maintain its food vaults.
