Dwarves

The stout dwellers of the earth, the hardiest of survivors who's fortresses weathered the first calamity much to their own pride as well. The Dwarves are one of the major races on the continent their people of honor, tradition, law, and valor and in the heart of it all industry. Though old fashioned generally Dwarves have warm hearts that are often crusted in thick stoicism that give them a manner of stubbornness of gruffness that is hard to deal with at time for those with little empathy or stubbornness to match. Even so these personas and outlook have made dwarves to be known as men and women to be counted on when they put their word in something and their are few thing that can stop a dwarf from completing the task.

Dwarves mature at the same rate as humans, but they’re considered young until they reach the age of 50. On average, they live about 350 years.

Dwarves gain respect with age and deeds, And it is largely fact that a dwarven elder is of the highest order of respect and command younger dwarves seeing them as the stubborn leaders of their society capable of using their vast wealth of experiences to lead the dwarves.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Dwarves by majority are located in the Reach and in the northern reachs of the conglomerate territiory. However hill Dwarves have begun to expand and move individually to humanoid cities across the reals so its not unlikely you will encounter dwarves far from their mountainous homes.

Average Intelligence

Dwarves are taught by the elder females of their family who teach them is tradition, family, history and martial prowess being the caretakers of the clan. So the intellegence of a dwarf largely depends on his clans craft and if he has a tutor or teach otherwise they are largely on their own.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Dwarves residents of the earth have learned how to see underground and in the dark passageways, their eyes capable of taking in an immense amount of light in order to see near perfectly underground making it difficult for any duergar to catch them surprised.

The 7 mountains It is the homeland and kingdom of the Dwarves held within the reach and they are allied to the Red spear conglomerate after fighting with them in the comet. Though often still stubborn to lend support they still hold the best materials for craft of armaments and weaponry and are known for supplying the Rodanian military with quality steel and weapons.

Beauty Ideals

Dwarves see beauty in stone and metal where others wouldn't, this going as far even to the minute height increments of mountains and their arrangements. Master carvers and smiths their cities are organized and details stonework every angle and crevasse of its holy some artistic design or purpose.

Average Technological Level

Dwarves are an industrial race of metal and steel and with the new discovery of black powder and steam engines they have been hard at work with the gnomes to press such technological advances in engineering even further. Much of their steam work is in machinery and transportation and their armaments are still fairly standard but of high craft and make with the added benefit of black powder weapons.

History

The dwarven race hails from the frigid mountain ranges of the reach, that is by all mean inhospitable for any outlander looking to majke it their home their. Yet even so the Dwarves since time immemorial first burrowed out from the earth after the calamity and it was at these first exits that the city of Thazmodan was created, a wonderous fortess carved from the largest mountains in the ranges and the pinnacle and stalwart capital of their race. Dwarves for hundreds of years did not leave the very mountains choosing to isolate themselves and wait out the inital stomrs and wars between man only ever arriving to bargain in meager trade.   It was only until the blades of mans wars turned their eyes on the Dwarves, and to those who foolishly marched their armies into the frigid Reach found nothing but death and defeat for every nook, ravine, pocket of those ranges has been mapped by the dozen of Dwarven rangers that patrol it and the impeccable dwarven craft make any offensive in their homeland invariably doomed to fail as many have seen and witnessed from those foolish enough to try. It was due to such offensives that the first king of man Eddar Snow stuggled greatly in convincing the elder dwarves to trust or aid him in uniting the realms they saw no reason to give human such trust or aid after seeing so many greedy humans try to kill their brother and sisters.   It was only until the Dwarves found their mountains under siege once more, beginning at the Great Wall of Thormir a massive wall of stone and ice that has stood for eons keeping the greenskins and their hoards at bay. But things were different this time around, as the dwarven soldiers on the wall soon felt the tremors within the earth and erupting forth they saw a great worm tall as a mountain clad in strewn metal and chains. The orcs had somehow brought the great beast under heel. The beast began to tunnel deep under the earth and at its heal marched the Orcish hoards it was to burrow straight to the belly of Thazomdan! But riding from the North behind the Orcish forces rode Eddar and his cavalry with him however there was a man tall as a tree and clad in elk horns and bramble, with but a few great utterances the druid cracked a path from the lake of delik straight to the hole flooding it with the mass amounts of water. It wasn't long that the beast rear round as not to drown and burst from the earth. For a full night the Dwarven forces and Eddar's fought the orcs and their beast and by the end of its the Orcish forces was shattered and retreating the the beast lied slain the crater in which it left would later become the outer city of Orvasker.  
  Forevermore did the dwarves stand corrected and a new law was struck in the great anals, Never again would a dwarf judge a man by his race but judge him by his character.
