Feywild

The Feywild, also known as the plane of Faerie, exists as an "echo" of the Prime Material Plane. It is from here that the fey originated, giving the Feywild its name, and it is also a place of unusually potent magic.

Geography

As a parallel plane to the Prime, the Feywild's geography is similar, though not entirely identical, to the geography of the Prime. Similarly, just as the geography is reminiscent of Winval's, its inhabitants and many creatures exist as fey "echoes" of Prime creatures. Arcane magic runs more freely and powerfully in the Feywild than it did in the Prime and it is for this reason that so many of its inhabitants are magically gifted. The Feywild is also reputably beautiful compared with either the Shadowfell or the Prime.   Though much of the Feywild is the same as the Prime geologically, there are differences, and more importantly, the lands answer to different powers than those on Winval. Much of the elven or eladrin civilizations had their earliest roots here and abandoned remnants of their culture litter the landscape. Unlike the elves, however, who have all but abandoned the Feywild, some eladrin remain behind in the Feywild, most notably the "noble" eladrin. These eladrin still maintain strong kingdoms and citadels across the Feywild.   The Feywild exists as a vibrant, but extremely deadly, reflection of the Material World, and defies all attempts to properly cull its enthusiasm. Where one might see the ruins of past ages in the Material World, the Feywild reflects that as some great fey lord’s castle with crystalline windows and crystal walls instead of stone. All attempts to properly map the Feywild end in failure, as it is inconsistent in its appearance. It is said that there are many worlds in the Material Plane, but only one Feywild reflecting them all at once. This causes the occupants of the Feywild to treat distances and time with little thought, and to mimic the Feywild’s seemingly erratic behavior.   The Feydark is the echo of Winval's Underdark in the Feywild and, like most parts of the Feywild, it is more majestic and fantastic than its natural counterpart. Inhabited by the fomorians, a fey echo of the titans, the Feydark is a cavernous world of maze-like tunnels and portals linking to Winval and other planes. The most powerful of the fomorian realms is Mag Tureah, which stands within a country-sized cavern lit by precious gems and stones. This kingdom is ruled by the Fomorian King.

History

The Plane of Faerie is a world home to half-celestials and half-fiends. The celestials make up the Seelie Court, while the fiends make up the Unseelie Court. Both courts are interested in abducting mortals from the Material Plane, though the Seelie Court is interested in amusement while the Unseelie Court is interested in slaves and meals.   The Seelie Court is lead by Titania, queen of the sprites and fairies, supported by her husband Oberon, king of beasts and the wild. They will travel throughout the various woodlands of the Feywild. This traveling court makes their home in woodland glades where they will hold feasts and conduct their business, often mortals might find them in their merriment whilst lost deep in the woodlands of Winval where the barrier between the prime and the feywild is weakest.   The Unseelie Court is the opposite of the Seelie Court's laughter and merriment and is ruled by the Queen of Air and Darkness. This dark goddess used to be the sister of Queen Titania before finding a mystical black diamond that has corrupted her with its power. The Queen of Air and Darkness no longer has a physical manifestation, but rather a cloud of darkness hovers around her throne, issuing orders for death, assassinations, and torture.
