Warlord Title

The Warlord is the absolute leader of Verraz, no one is above him/her.

Qualifications

The only qualification is the guts to challenge the Warlord & successfully kill the Warlord in combat.

Requirements

The person MUST be a born citizen of Verraz. That is the only requirement to having a chance at challenging the Warlord for the right to become the new Warlord.

Appointment

A person has to either: 1) Defeat the current Warlord in a Challenge for the Right OR 2) Be voted in if there is no Warlord on the throne

Responsibilities

Making Verraz stronger by any means, ensuring that the weak never rule, honoring the previous Warlord, and Uphold Verraz Law. And the absolute rule that no Warlord can break or change: they cannot for any reason (unless the primary requirement is not met) deny a challenge from anyone, even if they are a lowly commoner with only a few copper to their name. To deny it is grounds for immediate removal because it is their highest law.

Benefits

They can do whatever they want, make any new law they want, create new groups within the military & government, strengthen their own Noble Family (If they are from a Noble family), Lead troops in any battle, etc. However if it appears their choices are weak or is weakening the country, then it won't be long til they are removed.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The Warlord may choose to wear the armor if he/she wishes, but is not required to. The armor is Black Leather padding for the shoulders, knees, elbows, as well as bracers & boots, all having spikes on them, as well as a cape with Verraz's symbol on it.
The only thing Warlord does have to wear is a Medal on their chest that symbolizes who they are.

And there is no crown, basically cause Verraz never saw a point to having one.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Death. That is the most common way. Its extremely rare for a Warlord to be removed with evidence of weakness, of course the Warlord can challenge this, but if enough witnesses can prove it, then the Warlord is removed by decapitation, their name is struck from the Warlords' Memorial and no statue is built to remember them - The disgrace is not for the country to bear.

King, Grand Archon, Emperor, Dracon, etc.

Source of Authority

The Founding of Verraz, strength & conquest is what made them a nation, and that is what gives the Warlord his/her Authority.

Length of Term

Til Death, by combat or otherwise. Shortest term was a day, while the longest was 60 years.
