The Lone Tower

This tower is the only structure for miles, unless one counts the beaver dams. It sits on a cliff impossible to reach from any side. Thus there is no need for walls; the cliffs themselves are unscalable except by mountain goats, to which it has been give to climb sheer vertical cliffs with only four hooves to rely upon. Adventurers say the tower marks the edge of the world, for to go further would be setting foot on places utterly unknown.

Few adventurers come this far. Those who do are met by two riddles, firstly how was it built and secondly how did the builders planned to access it. Most conclude that some strange magic is at work and leave with their intellect intact. The poor curious souls to attempt to examine the cliffs find no magic at all, no matter how long or hard they search. They all eventually decide they've seen enough riddles for one lifetime and become mercenaries.

The secret, of course, is obvious. The builders had wings.

Purpose / Function

The tower was built long ago by the Winged to watch the outer reaches of the known world. It has since become a safe dwelling for those travelers who come this far and can figure out how to reach it. It is also spoken of at wealthy parties as a riddle for the wise.

Design

The tower is round and built of grey stone with a green stripe around the base. The roof is also of stone.

Entries

There is only one entrance to the tower and no windows. The entrance is of reinforced wood.

Sensory & Appearance

A pleasant blue light fills the tower, making it surprisingly bright inside. There is a sense of a pulsing energy in the walls.

Denizens

A lady with red wings dwelt here some decades back, and she still visits at random times now and again.

History

After the Winged left, the tower stood empty until a lady with red wings took up residence. She repaired the tower and fixed up the magic flowing through the stone. It is unknown whether she still lives there.
