People of Duralon

While they are not very scary these days, the people of Duralon have a proud warrior heritage. Until the giants came, the valley below the Rim Nasur mountains laid secure by the might of their mounted troops. Now that Duralon is strong again, many are wondering why they do not march as in the old days.

The military history of Duralon is varied, as is that of most strong countries, but at it's height Duralon controlled the lands from Rim Nasur to the Silver Lands. That didn't last more than three generations, but Duralon always had some vassal kingdoms sending tribute until the Giants came.

Even now, young boys always aim to be either knights or healers who tend to the knights. Young girls dream of being married to one or the other. Of course, most of them grow up to be blacksmiths or farmers or bakers or whatever other occupation their parents are. The army just hasn't been hiring.

Common Myths and Legends

The stories everyone knows are of the king who founded Duralon, whom legends call King Deflar. At that time the people were at the mercy of the surrounding nations. At harvest time they would come in force and steal the crops. But King Deflar arose against them. By his victories the impoverished people began to hope again. One by one he defeated their neighbors. His life was in danger time and again, but King Deflar lived to a ripe old age. Long after his death the people of Duralon remember him with pride.
