Shifts of the world

Shifts of the world, also known as world shifts, are a rare phenomenon in which fragments of another world that have attached themselves to Rawath temporarily. These typically manifest as dungeons full of monsters and demons, but could also be found as shops or places to stay. The creatures and items found in a world shift are typically not found elsewhere on Rawath. When a world shift manifests it replaces a section of land with itself and is controlled by a core of some form. This core can take many forms and only lasts as long as it receives magic energy. Most world shifts generate in such a way that the core cant receive magic energy, but the ones that do however are much stronger and last longer than the ones that lack a core. The inhabitants of a world shift are typically not aware that they arent in their world any more. World shifts do not cause any changes on the original world.   World shifts were originally discovered by solo elven explorer, Zelïdræh, when he was looking for a wizards lost spell book. During his search he found a world shifts core and took it for possible profit. As he was taking the core out he reported a burning feeling coming from the core that got worse the closer to the exit he got. When he tried to take the core out of the world shift it reportedly stabbed him in the hand and rolled back inside. After this, Zelïdræh decided to come back for it later. Once he found snd returned the book he returned to the location and found that it wasn't there anymore. At the time this was dismissed as him going to the wrong location, but later another adventurer reported a similar event, and then another. While the reports weren't numerous, eventually a mage decided to investigate these cores. His investigation is on going, and slow.
