Vedalken sind groß und schlank, stehen im Durchschnitt fast einen Kopf größer als Menschen, wiegen aber ungefähr das gleiche. Ihre haarlose Haut gibt es in einer Reihe von Blautönen. Ihre Augen sind dunklere Blau- oder Violetttöne. Sie haben keine äußeren Ohren, ihre Nasen sind breit und flach und sie sind teilweise amphibisch.
