The Pike Papers

The Pike Papers are the collected (and very disorganized) works of one Terence Pike, member of Clan Gangrel and researcher of Kindred History. They consist of two leather bound journals, five folders of random notes, and a box full of letters from other Kindred. Terence had been planning to organize all of his material into a single volume "when he had time" but that long-awaited task never materialized due to him being killed at the hands of Carlos Fortunato of Clan Brujah during the Time of Bloody Constraint.   Some quotes from the collection:   1) I may have found the Tzimisce fragment from the Book of Nod, as provided to me by Issac Cross. He admits it may be a corruption of an older, more authentic source but that does not mean it holds no value. I reprint it here:   The Words of Tzimisce to his Childer     We are the shapers of flesh and bone,   The ones who make tools and weapons from our very essence,   Those who remake our servants in ways fitting and strange.     Keep close with the land,   With the soil,   With sacred spirit of the dark earth.     Just as you reshape yourselves and your servants,   Reshape the world around you,   Tolerate no misgivings from those you rule over,   Those who would challenge you in your domain.     Keep always mindful of the State of things,   Of your own State of Being,   And of those States beyond for there lies our destiny.   2) The tension between Prince Whistler and Alec Lothaire grows with each passing night. Lothaire actually dared to hurl invectives and accusations toward the Prince at the Manor House tonight. Whistler seemed to be on the verge of Frenzy as he shouted back. Benjamin tried to calm the Prince and received a tirade from Whistler for his trouble. It devolved from a discussion of policy to a more heated debate and from there to an outright argument. On one side was the Prince, Tatiana, Samantha, Luna, Carlos, and...this must have hurt Lothaire greatly...Noah Smallwood. On Lothaire's side of the shouting match were Ambrose, Leila, Augustus, Victor, and Reverend Church. Sullivan rolled his eyes and left early. Dreven didn't join either side but kept smiling to himself. The rest of the Kindred who didn't join in watched and listened carefully. Before I got home, Sullivan caught up with me and told me what I already know...that deals are being made, favors are being called in, and new favors are being promised. He told me that there will be a war between Kindred and that I should stay out of it as he plans to do. But how can I? I owe Lothaire a Boon of my own. He'll call it in soon and make me side with him. I know he will. I fear tonight's Elysium will be the last one for a while.   3) The unlikely urn I purchased last night is quite a find. So much so, I'm wondering how that shopkeeper came by it. The thing was slender and even more slender in the middle. It was about a foot tall and a dark brownish color on the bottom fading to a more yellowish color on top. It was inscribed with the image of something like a gorgon or a lamia...a female creature with the lower body of a serpent, the claws of a beast, and the wings of a bat. Strangely, it contained only parched soil. I had Lothaire use his Auspex on it. He told me that this unlikely urn is ancient, probably Bronze Age. He also got the impression that it was used in some sort of cult worship and that it has passed through many hands over the millennia. Not nearly as much history as I would have liked. And for this, I owe him a great Boon, he says. Lucky me.   Whoever winds up finding the Pike Papers will have a great source of Kindred Lore on his hands.
