While not as influential as the De Medicis of Italy, they were very similar but on a smaller scale. Nathaniel himself went far and wide on trading missions for his family, stopping along the way to obtain Latin and Greek scholarly documents and rare objects of art. One day he traded some rare spices and precious gems to a German merchant for some obscure scrolls of antiquity, among which was a page from The Book of Nod. Specifically, it was a Greek version of The Words of Ventrue To His Childer. He wasn’t sure what to make of the strange fragment but it turned out to be exactly what a Ventrue Kindred named Helena Vanderpoole had been searching for. Once she became aware that he had it, she tried to use her web of influence and intrigue to get it away from him but the wily aristocrat vexed her at every turn and left Germany when he realized mysterious forces were trying to obtain his unlikely prize. This forced Helena to follow him around Europe personally until she finally caught up with him in Switzerland and confronted him face to face on top of a hill.   She Dominated him into handing over the fragment. Then she fell upon him and drank all of his blood. She offered him the choice of dying or being reborn as a Kindred. He whispered his acceptance and she Embraced him. Not long after, they went back to England with Helena posing as Nathaniel’s wife. She soon Dominated his parents into giving him his inheritance earlier than planned. They returned to Germany where he stayed by her side until it was decided that he needed to open up new territory for Clan Ventrue in the part of Connecticut that would become Ravenhurst. Sire and Childe parted ways but stayed in contact with her until she went into Torpor in 1856. Prior to leaving, he even Sired a Childe of his own, Rosalyn Cervantes. During his time in Ravenhurst, Nathaniel made attempts at becoming Prince but was always barely outmaneuvered by Aaron Whistler. He eventually found a compromise in allying with Alec Lothaire. He could get most of what he wanted without becoming Prince himself if Lothaire claimed the Princedom. And that is exactly what happened.   And what Nathaniel Montgomery wants is for Ravenhurst to become a glorious city eclipsing places like New York, Paris, and Rome. A city that can become the center of a second Renaissance. And he definitely does not want Ravenhurst to become like a new Carthage, which angers the Brujah Primogen, Benjamin Thorne. He also has another more immediate goal in that he owes a Major Boon to Sarah Anne Wolff in having her scry out the overall strategy of the Brujah. He would love to get out from under said Boon and is perfectly willing to extend a campaign of harassment to any pesky Neonates who get in her way. Nothing personal, of course. Just business.   Image: Nathaniel dresses impeccably in custom-tailored suits for the most part, favoring black suits and ties with shirts of nearly any color for contrast. He wears his slightly receding hair combed back and often sports Italian sunglasses. His demeanor is nearly unflappable, projecting an air of confidence, authority, and cold self-restraint.   Roleplaying Hints: Always maintain your composure as befits the situation. You know you rattle people when they’re trying to perturb you and all they get is a raised eyebrow and a dry retort as if you know more about what you’re speaking of than they do. After all, you want others to be civilized so project an air of that civility yourself. If somebody starts talking about cities, use that as a chance to expound on the great cities of history such as Rome and Paris and to add in how Carthage wasn't one of those great cities.
