Trist the Minstrel

Howdy! Long time, no see. What, you don't remember me? No matter, come, pull up a chair old friend. I've already gotten you your ale, it's right here. Yes, I knew you were coming. How? Intuition you might say. They do call these places watering holes after all. Aren't we all instinctively rushing toward that which we need? A strong beer and a good conversation? Is that not what the mortal species is built upon?   Oh look at me, how I ramble. But then again, of course I ramble on, it's all I do, one of my favorite times in fact. Yes, I've been on the road some time. Probably why you don't recognize me anymore. Not that you should worry your head over it. Because I'm glad I got here on time. I hear times have been tough on you. Your luck has been faltering. That's a pity, and I want to make sure that's fixed. No, I insist, this beer is all going on my tab. I know it's your fourth drink, just keep going, I have something to show you.   This here. This is my lucky coin. First one I ever earned. Rub this darling one time, and you'll have good luck right when you need it. But only thrice total, and then you need to pay it forward to a good cause. I've used it already! It's my turn to pay it forward, and I'm paying it for you. Nonsense, friend, your companionship was more than anything I needed this fine evening. I promise you, I'll pay all those drinks off myself. You sure you don't want any wine? Oh, no you don't friend, look how tipsy you've become! Let me walk you home.   There, there, key in the rafter, smart soul. Protect it better in the future though! Like we said, only thrice on that coin, and then no more luck! Use it wisely and don't spend it all in one place. Or do, who am I to judge? I know, I love you too. But I have to be going now. I'll lock the door behind me. Key on the rafter, yes, I'll return it. Get your rest. Drink water whenever you awaken. Me? Where am I heading off to? Well, there's always another tavern where ale is pouring, and people are freeing themselves of their clothing. Can't be late to a date, am I right? Sleep well, friend. Tomorrow will spruce up your life more than you know.

Holidays

Red & White Day: Trist is renowned on two primary days: Red Day, in the early Spring, and White Day, later in the Spring. Red day is generally celebrated by individuals who are courting - traditionally women, but nobody is restricted - to present a gift of affection to the one they admire. Then, approximately a month later, the receivers of these gifts are expected to return the affection to their admirer. This tradition is adopted broadly across all racial and social structures, but is most popular with children, adolescents, and young adults. Trist is frequently called upon to act as a confidence-booster and an intermediary for various romantic affairs, or for gift giving suggestions.   Festivale: One of the earliest, large celebrations of the year, Festivale is an extremely popular holiday. Originally Tiefling in origin, the holiday has become a staple in all cultures, with the highest popularity in Orcish, Elvish, and Human circles. It is generally held as a feast early in the year to celebrate the end of winter. It is a time for communities to prepare delicious foods and treats for everyone, and to become less conservative: no more fasting or rationing, no more huddling up in coats and cloaks, and no more huddling in one's house; instead, a party in the streets! Small communities will typically celebrate for two to three days, whereas many large Elvish communities make the events a week-long affair. Trist is usually honored at this event, to bring good fortune to the festivities and wish everyone a merry-good time.
