Tiamat

Evil, incarnate, wild.

Why do you fret? Why do you act so small? There is no need for that. Your hesitance solves nothing. You have a fire in you, a fire that burns brightly and uncontrollably. But you hold it back; you restrain your fire like a kiln, heating only yourself. But you should do this no more. Fire is a beautiful thing. Nothing stands in its way. It lilts, so gently, until it bursts with rage, subsuming all in its path. You have a fire, so gently lilting. It is time to rage, little one.   Do not think before you act. Certainly, care is needed. But decisiveness is more prized. Because the merchant who waited to sell is the one who missed their opportunity; the warrior that held back their strike was the one that was struck down; the romantic who waited for the right moment learned their lover chose many others, and not little old them.   You are not little. You are giant. But don't disappoint me. Do not disappoint yourself. Be your best. Act. There is nothing else but your actions. Serve yourself by them, by wit and by dare.

Holidays

Festival of Lights: The Draconic gods are seen as being generally outside the realm of others gods, as the dragons themselves are creatures rather than traditionally ascended beings. And as the draconic gods are not bound to Rakuen itself, a week is given to all the gods. The Festival of Lights is generally on the final two week of the year, culminating in the the Solar New Year, punctuated by various occasions throughout.
  • The Advent: On the first day of the Festival of Lights, adherents begin a fasting for the day, and upon dinner time when their fast breaks, bring out a candelabrum. This is used for religious observance, where every night, prayers are said at the lighting of a candle for the passage of time. Eight candles are used as part of the candelabrum, with for representing the four legs of Haumea, and four representing the dragons Bahamut, Tiamat, Deidra, and Adramalech.
  • Starlight: Generally throughout the proceedings of the Festival of Lights, decorations will be made throughout communities, including wreaths, decorative ribbons of red and green, and most importantly, candles, lanterns, and lamps. Starlight is the most popular event for decoration though, as it is usually a community event. In smaller communities, roadways and the doorways of houses are lined with candles, and families travel through the lights at night, singing various carols to one another as groups. Larger communities can get quite advanced with decorations, including more candles, stained glass for lamps to produce different colored lights, and large displays in public places.
  • The Nativity: A day of worship for the god of all dragons, Alexander, who was created by the divine might of the other draconic gods. This day is generally celebrated as a day of family and gathering. It is largely somber and subdued, and meant to be a night spent with those that matter most to you. Traditions include the completion of the candelabrum, homecooked meals, games, and the sharing of beds between family.
  • Noel: Noel is the day immediately after The Nativity, celebrating the birth and ascension of Alexander. This is a day of gift giving, and of appreciating those closest to you. Handcrafted gifts or personal gifts are most prominent, with items such as toys, clothing, and pottery, although silverware, glassware, and jewelry are also very popular gifts. The day emphasizes children in the morning, celebrating their youth, before devolving into raucous feasting and partying to celebrate adults. Large dinners late at night as well as various alcohols.
  • Solar New Year: In the days after Noel, the celebrations do not stop. The day after Noel is a public day of feast. There is usually a religious parade featuring small statues of the draconic gods, with emphasis to Alexander, followed by a community feast where everyone shares. Afterwards, partying is encouraged throughout, and no business is allowed to be conducted. Heavy drinking throughout the day was a particularly popular activity. Another was the election of the Dragon King, where each family would elect someone else in their family to be head of household, usually someone of lower status such as a child or slave, who would be allowed to order others around within reason. The event concluded with a celebration on New Years at around midnight, where the community would count down the last day of the year in unison.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Tiamat is the Right Hand of Haumea, and goddess of cunning, ambition, and action. Although they are often viewed as an evil god due to their chaotic nature, they are still broadly worshiped for their support in so many different aspects of life. Most commonly worshiped is her guidance towards action. This action may be reckless, but it is decisive, to act with ego and disregard for others, without inhibition, is a true reflection of Tiamat's pride.   Tiamat is popular among merchants. The often cutthroat nature of marketeering is aided by Tiamat's call to trickery, deception, and striking while the iron is hot. Tiamat is also seen as a rebellious god, as she often disagrees with her brothers and sisters. As such, she is worshiped by those who see themselves as underdogs and outcasts. Dragonborn always revere her, but so do Tieflings, Orcs, Avians, Centaur, and Minotaur. Satyrs and Dwarves also tend to value her more primal mentality. Finally, Tiamat is regularly revered among darker communities, such as necromancers, rogues, criminals, and revolutionaries, as they take pride in Tiamat's rebellious nature.
